Terms of Service for GovRecap
Last Updated: 2/28/2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to GovRecap ("Service"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the GovRecap service ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.
2. Service Description
GovRecap provides AI-generated summaries of local government meetings delivered via email. The goal of our Service is to create a more informed citizenry by making government proceedings more accessible and understandable.
The frequency of these summaries depends entirely on when relevant government meetings occur. Which types of meetings (town hall, mayor, board of supervisors, etc.) are covered will vary by location and depend on when support for each category is added to the platform. In the future, users may have the option to select which meeting types they wish to receive summaries for.
These summaries are created using artificial intelligence technology based solely on meeting recordings and transcripts, and are designed to provide politically unbiased, faithful representations of the content discussed during these meetings. They are provided for informational purposes only.
The delivery timing of summaries is not guaranteed to occur immediately after meetings but will be provided on a best-effort basis. Some meetings may be missed (for example, if a recording or transcript is not made publicly available by the governing body), and the Service operates on a best-effort basis.
3. Account Registration and Communications
To use our Service, you must provide your name and a valid email address. By signing up for GovRecap, you consent to receive emails from us related to the Service, including meeting summaries and operational communications. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information and for all activities that occur under your email address.
4. Subscription and Payment
4.1 Subscription Fees
Our Service requires a paid subscription. The current subscription fee is displayed on our checkout page at the time of purchase and may vary by location or change over time. All fees are stated in U.S. dollars.
4.2 Fee Changes
If there were to be a subscription fee change, we will provide reasonable advance notice via email of any change for impacted existing subscribers. This notice will be sent to the email address associated with your account. Fee changes will take effect at the next billing cycle.
4.3 Promotional Codes
We may offer promotional codes that provide discounted or free access to the Service. These promotional codes may be subject to additional terms specified at the time they are issued.
4.4 Payment Processing
We use Stripe as our payment processor. By providing your payment information, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method for the subscription fee on a recurring basis until you cancel. Payment information is processed and stored by Stripe according to their privacy policy and terms of service.
4.5 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period, after which it will not renew.
